Meeting Animals – Animal Attendees Personified

Meeting Animals – Understanding Personalities

We are excited to announce a new series that will take into consideration the different personalities we find in the meeting space. These animal attendees have been given a specific persona. MeetingResult has the answers for managing these rascally beasts! We will be rolling out a blog post for each of the following personas monthly!

Meeting The Animals!

1. Gorilla –  There is only room for one Gorilla in a meeting.  Gorillas frequently exert their position of real or perceived power to demand there will be done.  They speak early and often, dominating conversations and sucking up all the oxygen in the room.

2. Mouse – Has valuable contributions but rarely speaks up.  Typically is introverted and will not interject. A mouse must be drawn out by actively seeking to engage them.

3. Sea Gull – Bring your umbrella for the seagulls.  They will drop sh*t everywhere.  Everyone knows exactly the type of person we are talking about.  They swoop in, make unrealistic demands and drop misleading and conflicting information that leaves everyone scratching their heads wondering what in hell is this person smoking.

4. Fox – loyal, passionate, and creative the fox relies on its sharp mind and engaging personality to influence and succeed.  Fox is orderly and ambitious and can make others feel belittled because of their fierce competitiveness.

5. Chameleon – The chameleon is an interesting meeting animal.  Sometimes this elusive creature will blend into the seats, keep a low profile and seek to fill their calendars with back-to-back meetings to justify their existence.  In a far more sinister incarnation, the chameleon will change its opinion and personality to seamlessly blend with group think consensus or the perspective of the most influential or powerful person in the room.

6. Horse – The horse or as many people might say the workhorse is the person in your meetings that jumps at the opportunity to spearhead a work assignment and works tirelessly to complete everything they can to contribute to the organization.  They may or may not speak up too much in meetings but you can rest assured that they are processing everything and have an excellent perspective on the reality of the given situation.

7. Jackass – By far the easiest of the meeting animals to spot.

8. Dodo Bird – Aloof to the meeting. Inattentive and overall, mentally not present.

9. Hyena – The jokester uses their charisma to actively derail the meeting.

10. Baboon – Critical of others’ ideas while providing little to no substance themselves.

11. Crow – The Crow is a multitasker, often not fully present at the meeting because of their attempts to complete other tasks.

12. Rabbit – Always skeptical of new ideas, possibly slowing down the flow of the meeting overall.
